Event Regulations
All riders participating in Ride A who are under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and have the entry form signed by a parent or guardian.
Riders who enter Ride B must be over 16 if riding unaccompanied. Riders under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and have the entry form signed by a parent or guardian.

  • All riders must be over 18 on the day of the event to enter ride C. Riders who are 16-18 and accompanied by an adult can apply for special dispensation from the organiser to complete this ride. This may be granted in exceptional circumstances.
  • Participants will be responsible for the roadworthiness of their own cycle.
  • Riders will be set off in groups of 40 or less at two minute intervals.
  • All participants are covered by British Cycling third party insurance for the duration of the event. The cost of which is included in the entry fee. The organisation is covered for civil party liability.
  • No bicycle, tandem or other machine, conventional or otherwise, is permitted to have unconventional handlebars including triathlon bars, aero bars, clip-ons, prayer bars, and cow bars. Neither are Spinachi type bars permitted. However, ATB bar ends are permitted on mountain bikes.
  • You must obey all Highway Code Rules. You are requested to ride in single file where appropriate and no more than 2 abreast at any time. Please be aware of your fellow cyclists and other traffic.
  • Please indicate your intention to stop or change direction.
  • You may not deviate from your official route. From start to finish there will be signage marking each route. Directions for each ride will be indicated by signs and marshals at main junctions. Signs will also indicate when you are approaching a refreshment stop.
  • All volunteers and staff involved in the event will be clearly identifiable. The marshals do not have the authority to stop motorists. They are there for your safety and other road users. It is the responsibility of each participant to take the correct course for the ride entered.
  • While it is not mandatory we strongly suggest all participants wear a safety-approved cycling helmet. We recommend cycle helmets complying with ANSI Z90/4 or SNELL standards. Cycling shoes, shorts and jerseys are also recommended.
  • All riders are recommended to carry 2 drink bottles, an energy bar or similar snack, a spare tube and wet weather clothing. We also advise that riders carry ID and a small amount of money.
  • You may not use your mobile phone while riding. You must stop at the side of the road if you need to make or receive a call.
  • Rider's number, issued at registration, must be displayed on the front of the bike for identification.
  • Each rider will be issued with a SPORTident timing card and this will be used to give split times and ensure riders do not deviate from their chosen route. Any rider missing a check point on their appointed route will be deemed to have abandoned the event. The timing card must be returned to an official at the Start/Finish area. The penalty for not returning your SPORTident timing card is £18 and you may not be allowed to participate in future events.
  • The Organisers reserve the right to terminate an individual's ride on health and safety grounds. The rides will take place regardless of bad weather and will only be cancelled, re-routed or stopped for reasons of safety. Entry fees, however, are not refundable.
  • On each route there will be designated feeding stations where riders can obtain drinks and energy food.  There are also several cafes and pubs on the two other rides where competitors can purchase food and drinks.
  • No participant (other than those on tandems) may take food or drink from anyone whilst on the move. If you need food or drink, you must stop to receive it.
  • Mobile support vehicles in the form of cars or motorbikes are strictly forbidden and will lead to disqualification. You may however receive outside support from a stationary vehicle. Any such vehicle must not interfere with the progress of the riders.
  • There will be support vehicles on each route and riders experiencing difficulties will be transported to the finish if required.
