Newcastle law firm Mincoffs Solicitors www.mincoffs.co.uk has announced that it is to sponsor this year’s Leazes Park Criterium cycle race, which takes place on the evening of Friday 11 June.

Mincoffs is sponsoring the points competition in the Elite category race on the night, which will feature some of the UK’s top riders battling it out on the tight twists and turns of Newcastle’s Leazes Park.

Crtierium races feature several races within on event: there will be an overall winner as well as a winner of a points race. Points are won during the race for riders sprinting at set points known as ‘primes’. The Leazes Park Criterium elite race will have eight primes, and the rider with the most points at the end of the race will take the Mincoffs-sponsored prize.

Mincoffs senior partner Howard Gold said: “The Leazes Park Criterium brings top level cycling to Newcastle as well as offering local riders the chance to race in a really special location so we’re really proud to be involved in the event.”
